EM&E Group has announced a €25 million investment to set up in Paterna with the aim of developing photonic components for the space, security, defense, and aeronautics sectors. This new building will house the industrial operations of DAS Photonics, the photonics company that the group has integrated into its electronics subsidiary, EM&E Electronics.
Located in the Paterna Technology Park and covering an area of 2,000 m², the new facilities will be operational in the coming months and will constitute a pioneering factory for high-performance discrete photonic semiconductors, which generate, manipulate, transmit, or detect light to transport or process information, energy, or secure communications. The project, which has already been presented to the Paterna City Council, envisages the creation of 100 new jobs in the town, with the first 50 people joining this summer.
With this new location, EM&E Group reinforces its commitment to the development of critical technologies and the strengthening of national technological and industrial capabilities, while also boosting the local productive fabric and job creation in the region.
In the words of Fidel Rodríguez, CEO of EM&E Electronics and DAS Photonics: “We are proud to continue growing in the Valencian Community to develop a technology as strategic in the 21st century as photonics. The new facilities in Paterna will allow us to manufacture photonic components that are not currently produced in Spain, which will give us national technological sovereignty in a critical area.”
For his part, Juan Antonio Sagredo, mayor of Paterna, said: “The arrival of EM&E Group consolidates Paterna as one of the main technological and industrial hubs in the Valencian Community and Spain. The fact that a strategic company in the field of photonics and defense has chosen our Technology Park demonstrates the sector’s confidence in the talent, infrastructure, and innovative ecosystem of our city.”
