Javier Escribano, the current CEO of the EM&E Group, will assume the presidency of the Group following the appointment of his brother as executive president of Indra. Ángel Escribano will therefore step down as president of the EM&E Group.

For his part, Fernando Fernández, Operations Director of the EM&E Group since 2014, will become the company’s new CEO. Fernández has more than 20 years of experience in the defense sector, having held senior positions in several of the sector’s leading engineering companies.

The EM&E Group is the leading defense and security group in Spain and the largest private shareholder in Indra with a 14.3% stake, second only to SEPI. With a turnover of more than 300 million euros in 2024 and an EBITDA of more than 100 million euros, EM&E has evolved from a small, mechanized workshop to a reference company in the defense and security sector, both nationally and internationally.

Under the leadership of the Escribano brothers, the Group has invested continuously in production capacity and R&D, and has seen a significant increase in job creation, and now has a workforce of more than 1,300 professionals. In addition, it has been characterized by public-private collaboration, territorial cohesion and its commitment to the internationalization of the Spanish defense industry. In fact, the EM&E Group, in a unique case in the sector, began by competing in the international market before making its foray into Spain.

Following the election of Ángel Escribano as the new executive president of Indra by the multinational’s shareholders, Javier Escribano, currently CEO of the EM&E Group, will assume the presidency of the Group and continue its business strategy of expansion and growth. The Group will therefore continue with its strategic plan and develop the defense programs in which it is involved, contributing to the strengthening of the Spanish industrial fabric and the positioning of Spain as a global benchmark in defense and security.
